February 1, 2017 my little brother Allen “AP” Powell suddenly and very tragically passed away. This happening just seven days after welcoming my daughter into the world we had to come to terms with the fact that my brother’s 20+ years of life had ended. However, this anniversary I wanted to shift a grim dark day, to allowing light to shine in.
In this solo episode I made space and time to honor my brother Allen Powell by sharing how his life has inspired my own. Honestly, that’s my brother so this is only a small portion of how he has forever impacted me. Allen spent his entire life and final night, living full throttle.
Allen “AP” Powell
He wasn’t a celebrity but he was well known and his name traveled far. In actuality, my family is continuously learning of the ways Allen (aka AP) has impacted the lives of many. His smile, laugh, charm and undeniable confidence was magnetic. To include people of all ages, they very easily attached themselves to him.
AP had a full throttle approach towards life. So, if he was interested in it, passionate about it or loved it, he was going all in and then he was going to level up and go even further.
Full throttle is defined as something done with great speed and enthusiasm.
The Full Throttle Approach & Allen Powell Way
- Locked in, All-in
- High Enthusiasm
- Committed
- Willing to take risks
- Applying max effort
- Staring fear in the face and doing it anyways
- Determination to level-up
This podcast and my children’s books are my own examples of taking this approach that I breakdown in the episode. It’s not something that instantaneous but it is a journey and with time gets easier to tap into. May Allen’s life inspire you too.
